Irish Celtic Cross Necklace

The Celtic silver necklace here is from our collection of solid sterling silver Celtic crosses, originating in Scotland and made there. It is the Celtic cross of Moone in County Kildare, Ireland, which we mention in our other Celtic cross necklace with animals, as it is the original Celtic cross that depicted animal engravings. Animal carvings were featured prominently in ancient Celtic designs, and while we don't know the exact symbolism of all the creatures depicted, we do know that the Celts lived in harmony with nature and the animal kingdom around them. On its upper surface is a Celtic pattern, and again it is recessed into the silver, just as it would have been on stone.

The Celts famously created beautiful stone crosses intricately carved by hand with detailed or ornate Celtic art and designs. You may have seen these crosses around the UK at some point, as they are part of our UK culture, especially so in places like Wales and Cornwall.

It measures 40mm x 12mm and comes with an 18-inch silver chain. Other crosses are also pictured from this range of Celtic necklaces.
