Choices and Ideas for your Wedding Rings in Silver, Gold or Titanium. What choices are there between precious metals and other alloys for your wedding ring? We look at palladium, silver, gold and titanium. |

Plan ahead for your Wedding RingsWhen you first decide to get married and start to plan for your wedding couples often make the mistake of choosing there weddings at the last minute thinking that they can just pop along to any shop a choose the rings off the shelf. This is more than often not the case so we do advise that planning far ahead is the best course of action in order to avoid an unnecessary stress. Your wedding rings are a token of love and betrothal which will hopefully be worn for a very long time. It is therefore important to try and give your wedding rings some serious thought to make sure you get something that you like and that you will enjoy wearing. Obviously you wil be purchasing two rings so do consider matching rings also. |

Consider carefully the Ring that will best suit youIf you do leave your rings until quite late in the day, please be aware that many people often lose weight in the run up to the big day and this may affect your finger size. This means if you put the weight back on, your wedding rings could become too tight for comfort. We can advise you on this issue and many others concerning the purchase of your wedding rings online. Choosing the style of your wedding ring is really down to personal taste but it is probably better to stick with a style that will not date but still look good in ten or twenty years time. Consider carefully the width of the ring as although wide rings are currently very popular, they may not be that comfortable for some people if worn all the time. Lifestyle is also important as some style or rings may not be appropriate for certain jobs or sporting activities. For instance, you wouldn't want to spend a fortune on an 18ct gold ring if you have a heavy manual job. |

A look at the various metals to choose fromThe material that you decide on for your wedding rings is important as some materials stand up to wear and tear much better than others. The considerations for the type of metal for your rings will undoubtedly be based on personal taste, design style, durability and your budget. These days it is often the budget that dictates what you buy but with the rings we feature you need not compromise on quality. Titanium and black zirconium rings have become popular as wedding rings and they will be more durable than those made from precious metals. These rings have become popular for all but particularly for men that have jobs that will subject any ring worn to more wear and tear than normal. More info here on titanium wedding rings. Silver is always popular but we would advise that this is a relatively soft metal and is probably not the best choice for a wedding ring which you would be wearing for many years. Silver will dull down and wear way more quickly than most other metals. We have written an article on the cleaning of silver and also silver jewellery tarnishing - something you need to consider before purchasing a silver wedding ring. Gold is ever popular as wedding rings, it wears well and looks good over many years. If you have a limited budget, 9ct is less expensive and harder wearing. White gold is also an option but we would advise that you buy a ring made form high quality white gold which is not rhodium plated and therefore not high maintenance. Rhodium plating needs redoing every 6-12 mths depending on how much wear and tear it is subjected too. It is worth pointing out that 18ct non rhodium plated white gold has a greyish colour which is not to everyone's taste. |

An Engraving option for the finishing touchPlatinum is the most durable of all the metals but it is also by far the most expensive and for a good quality ring you will be paying well into a four figure sum for each ring. This is of course way beyond what most couples would want to pay for their wedding rings. But take heart because there is now palladium which is a metal from the platinum family. Palladium is half the weight and is as hard and white as Platinum and will not tarnish. There is no nickel in the alloy we use so it is also hypoallergenic. But the main benefit of the palladium is the price, which is much lower than platinum roughly being the equal to the price of 18ct gold. Steel is the new kid on the block. Tough, modern, hypoallergenic, cheap and very stylish. It has everything a man could want when it comes to choosing a ring. The designs we feature can mix and match the steel with gold, silver and palladium making some very versatile design statements. Once you have considered the above options personalising your wedding rings is a good idea too. We can engrave just about anything onto your ring from basic text to graphics etc. You will find an article on engraving ideas for your rings on our website should you be stuck for ideas. |
