Palladium in White Gold Jewellery

Palladium is a platinum group metal, it is half the weight and is as hard and white as Platinum and will not tarnish, therefore it has the same appearance when finished although it is lighter. There is no nickel in the alloy we use and so it is also hypoallergenic. The main benefit is in the price as Palladium is currently more affordable than Platinum.

Some of us are unfortunate to suffer skin reactions to white gold due to the nickel content. At the most extreme form of reaction scarring has been known to occur so it is very frustrating to see a beautiful ring in the shops that you simply will never be able to wear. However palladium is the answer to these problems. It was palladium that was used as an alternative to nickel in white gold. Palladium is a member of the platinum metal family. To this point it won't tarnish or corode and mixes well with gold. You can therefore not worry about any skin reaction with white gold jewellery containing palladium. Taking things on further jewellery can come in palladium. This is very new idea and very soon there will be a hallmark for this metal. Palladium does however cost roughly the same as 18ct gold but it does make a much cheaper alternative to platinum.
