Why is laser engraving for Jewellery better than traditional engraving done by hand?

Traditionally rings were engraved by hand. The jeweller would use specialised hand held tools to engrave in a hand written script style. Technology has however stepped in to the world of jewellery engraving in the form of lasers. A laser is know in full title as Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Best know for its use in science fiction films the laser is single beam of light. Its capabilities are powerful from delicate surgery to the total destruction of an object. When focused at the correct controlled amount it can cut into metals removing small sections. It is with these precise parameters that jewellery engraving has become reality. As the system is computer controlled the engraving designs are first put together on screen. This allows the operator to specify the font and size of the engraving. The major advantage of this is that you can fit far more onto the ring than by doing the same by hand. It is possible to view the engraving first before pressing the start button.

Above and beyond this capability is the use of imported graphics for use as the basis of patterning and logo type engraving.
